Houses for sale on the Côte d’Azur

A term coined by Stéphane Liégeard when writing his book in 1887, the Côte d’Azur still has no official boundaries. Broadly speaking, it encompasses the entire coastline from Marseille to Genoa ; though once across the Italian border, most people simply call it "the Riviera". In more restrained manner, the Côte d’Azur is seen as stretching from Saint-Tropez to Menton. Nice is always referred to as its capital. The largest town in the region with close on 350,000 residents, it is a must destination for visitors. Cannes, Antibes, Grasse, Menton and Saint-Tropez come very close after, in terms of appeal. Both locals and holiday residents make no secret of their appreciation of being able to enjoy a lovely climate, whether year-round or seasonal, and an environment sometimes well-preserved, sometimes very urban and lively.

Luxury or lots of character, a vast choice of houses on the Côte d’Azur

Job transfers, a growing family, for whatever reason, demand for houses is certainly not lacking. Prices of houses on the Côte d’Aur naturally vary rather spectacularly, depending on the town, neighbourhood, or even the street, the property's location and surface area. Villas in towns appeal to families and the retired, whereas those with "sea views" have a more "luxury" aspect, often finding takers among buyers from outside the region, most frequently from countries such as the UK, the Netherlands, Russia, and neighbouring Italy.

Apartments for sale on the Côte d’Azur

With its numerous towns, most of them real seaside resorts of international renown, the Côte d’Azur continues to exercise lots of appeal. Its Mediterranean climate, beautiful coastline, cultural life and major events (the Cannes Film Festival, Nice's Jazz Festival, the Citrus Festival in Menton…), the closeness of the countryside and mountains, are all arguments making locals stay put and inciting others to move in. Le Var and the Alpes-Maritimes offer a wide array of pleasant town centres and peaceful seafronts. And even though the tourist season multiplies the number of people flocking here, it is always a pleasure to spend time on the Côte d’Azur, at whatever time of year…

Dreamy Côte d'Azur apartments

Very strong since the post-war years, the Côte d’Azur's popularity among tourists has continued to encourage the construction of new residences which now line the shore. Blocks of apartments have sprung up like mushrooms, overlooking the magnificent Mediterranean. Apartments with terraces and sea views are inevitably the most sought-after, and there is an active market for seasonal rentals. Over the past few years, however, it has been demand for prestigious apartments that has kept estate agencies busy. In search of outstanding properties, British and Russian clients, among others, are prepared to be patient in order to acquire the apartment of their dreams : a penthouse, for example, with a vast terrace, sometimes a private pool and, above all, an unimpeded view of the sea. Cannes, Nice, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco are some of the addresses offering the finest array of opportunities.
